The Vampire Diaries. Season 4. Episode 23: "Graduation"

Slow clap for finally finishing Season 4 micros a day before Season 5 starts.

I was pretty much satisfied with all aspects of Season 4's finale; some events I was not so agreeable to, but I have no serious objections—except for one. So, on to my favorite parts, in no particular order.

Let's get this out of the way first.

I see good things to come for Rebekah, but the real reason we have The Originals next season (next week!) is that she's also started to follow her dear hybrid brother's path of being a hero-ish non-villain, and we have lots of those around Mystic Falls.

It's nothing serious between these two, I hope.

Katherine had the cure shoved up her throat, thanks to Elena. I bet she stays on the show, otherwise that would be a waste of a freakin' good twist. I bet she'd be pissed having no vampire superpowers at all.

Spell "doppleganger" backwards.

Klaus and Caroline eventually? Yes, please. In what way, I haven't quite figured out yet, but yes, please! I expect Klaus and Rebekah, and, of course, my darling Elijah, to drop by and check in once in a while—or Caroline to drop by The Originals.

"Don't leave me to go through college!"

Elena picks Damon. Wow. I didn't see that coming. Good luck with that. Damon will eventually fuck some things up on purpose or by coincidence, so that should be a good thrill. I'm not sure this is what I wanted after all.

Bad guys do get the girl sometimes... for a time, maybe.
The exception totally ruined everything else. Silas is Stefan's shadow self, a.k.a. doppleganger. Geez. I guess we're going to be lectured once again on how that happened─next season. I am not amused.

It's a chance to play a bad─really bad─character. Or so they say.

The Vampire Diaries. Season 4 gets seven out of ten, for presenting some up and down moments, some surprising and stupid ones, and also a really fucked-up one─some mythology about a "shadow self".
