Review: Kotonoha no Niwa (The Garden of Words)

Kotonoha no Niwa (The Garden of Words) is Makoto Shinkai's 2013 release. It's a typical Shinkai love story because the characters don't end up together. (A love story is different from a romance because the latter requires that its characters end up together.)

Review: Possible Academy Award Nominations for Rush

As a relatively new Formula 1 fan (thanks to the documentary Senna, and of course to Sue Denim), 2013 is my first real season. My only regret is that I didn't become a petrolhead earlier.

When crashes and deaths were part of an ordinary day in the office.

Rush may not score big in box office returns, but will very likely be nominated for more than one Academy Award. And these nominations are:

Best Actor in a Leading Role
Daniel Brühl as Niki Lauda

"Yes, I look a bit like a young Christopher Reeve. So what?"

Review: Elysium

The film Elysium is an example of what is known as a "Jesus Christ Narrative". Now allow me to explain.

Jesus Christ, or Judas Iscariot?

Album Review: Random Access Memories by Daft Punk

The name “Daft Punk” has since become synonymous with electronica, specifically the dance floor-type. You might remember them from the late 90s as the helmet-wearing duo who seem more robot than human.

I want one of them helmets.

Review: OTJ (On The Job), Or Five Reasons Why OTJ is the Best Filipino Film I've Seen So Far

Erik Matti’s On The Job is one bloody masterpiece. The whole thing just blew me away. This, in my opinion, is how Filipino movies should be made.

And this is how promo materials should be made.

Here are five things about this movie that make it worthy of the title “the best (modern) Filipino film I have seen so far”.

Review: R.I.P.D.

R.I.P.D. literally stands for "Rest In Peace Department". And for good reason. They deal with the Dead-O's (the undead, or more specifically, the dead spirits who came back here in another form.)

Not the kind of dead-o that you're thinking about.

They're kinda' like the aliens in M.I.B. where somebody has to keep the freaky-looking weirdos in check or else chaos ensues.

Review: RED 2

This sequel couldn't get any better! Magnificent plot! Though the action looks kinda' cliche. But still, better than action porn or any type of porn!

I tend to disagree.
