"Come on, I just got the girl!"

I agree with Damon, let's dial down the destiny talk. I love that Damon is still fighting the odds, still the underdog even if he already got the girl. But I miss Damon on a rampage.

"No, she's destined to be mine."

Is this like one of Mystic Falls' parties?

We get front row seats as to how the Original siblings plot and scheme their way into getting what they want. I would admit, they're pretty effective that way. Ask and you shall receive. If you do not, then always have a Plan B—and make it diabolical in many more ways than one.

Hey, as his baby mama said: "Being diabolical has its perks!"

"Hello, brother—Not!"

Lying to the one you love can backfire on you big time. Silas/Stefan gets to Elena and spills all her boyfriend's boo-boos. I'm not sure if the dorm room drama is meant to turn you on or make you vomit dinner, but leave it to Caroline to ease up the situation.

"Argggh. Ahhh." Ewww. What the?

He doesn't seem amused by his period costume.

It's an episode full of flashbacks of how Marcel is really related to our dear Originals, and how they've lost touch. Basically, it's a 'Don't touch my sister or else" story, and sometimes I see how Rebekah still likes for men in her past to drool over her in modern times.

Human Marcel with hair is creepy.

This show successfully straddles the line between "embarrassingly funny" and "downright humiliating".

HBO
With Stephen Merchant's gay jokes, shame and humiliation aren't far behind.

For those who call themselves fans of Stephen Merchant, you might've noticed that his comedic style revolves around three basic things:

HBO
"Can you go a bit slower?"

First of all, I would like to express my disappointment at the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines for owing me three months worth of paychecks. I would've really, really wanted to watch this on IMAX 3D. And again in a theatre with Dolby Atmos surround sound. But since I really, really had to see it on the big screen, I settled for ordinary 2D.

Not in 3D? Kill me now.

HBO

First, like almost all shows, we finally have a proper opening credits sequence, which is noticeably different from the one in the pilot.

HBO
Yes, he's an Englishman. In Hollywood.

And we finally realise why this show is entitled Hello Ladies ─ it’s his catchphrase. He uses it twice in this episode.

HBO
This is actually an isolated incident.

Thanks, HBO, for greenlighting this show. I know you weren’t really ready for Ricky Gervais (The Ricky Gervais Show doesn’t count ─ it’s animated). Or rather, America wasn’t ready for this brand of humour.

HBO
But the world is always ready for "short fat guy and tall skinny guy" comic duos.

For those who thought Stephen Merchant can’t hold his own without Gervais, I have three words for you: You. Are. Wrong.

Just because it's a pilot.

We've already seen this one roughly, actually, but there's a lot in this version that, I think, made it feel more like a proper beginning for our dear Original vampires' own show.

Hang on, brother. There's more...

Hello, college!

The Vampire Diaries is not the show to come in strong on season openers (I still remember the Season 1 opener─just meh), but I believe it has the capacity to improve as they move from one episode to another; yes, even with the "Stephan is Silas' Shadow self" shit, let's hope.

Let's see what they did last summer...
