For those who love Norse mythology, you're probably familiar with the words Asgard, Midgard, and Skarsgård. Kaboom. Just had to get that joke out of the way.
I must admit that this film changed my perception of Will Ferrell. I found Will Ferrell funny way before this movie, but I thought his humor came from his loud antics and his desire to be nude all the time. This movie shows his more subdued side (his character is a boring cop who used to be from the Forensics Accounting department), although there are times when he slips back to his loud persona. But that's like only for a few seconds, so it's all right.
Mark Wahlberg doesn't take off his shirt here (sorry, girls). But he is such a natural actor that pretty soon it ceases to matter that he is Mark Wahlberg.
Samuel L. Jackson is back with his famous Samuel L. Jackson-style of acting. You know, tough cool guy approach. Fugly cool.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson didn't get much screen time, roughly as long as Samuel's. Too bad, as The Rock is one of my favorite actors. He is someone who left the world of wrestling for showbusiness, because he is damn better at it.
Michael Keaton is hilarious as the police chief. And the TLC references were really laugh-out-loud moments.
Steve Coogan was brilliant. Of course, he will always have that British accent. And I only recently noticed that Coogan kind of looks like Spanish footballer Carles Puyol.
Ray Stevenson once again shows his team playing-abilities. Only this time, he plays an Aussie.
And finally, Eva Mendes is starting to grow on me. I admit that she wasn't really my type before. But she's getting hotter and hotter with every movie I see her in. Keep up the good work, Eva.
P.S. No wonder that other black guy looked familiar. He's Damon Wayans, Jr. I mean, is Damon Wayans that old?

Rating: Seven and a half out of ten.

Okay, if this is a screwed-up, post-apocalyptic scenario, why do they have really cool shades? Gary Oldman made me a fan of wayfarers. Well, also Bradley Cooper from The A-Team. But I don't know if they were the real deal Ray-Ban Wayfarers or just sunglasses of similar design. But this is not a review of sunglasses.
Denzel can do his own stunts. Hooray. And a scruffy-looking Denzel looks cooler.
Gary Oldman is in my Acting Hall of Fame. So I don't even have to explain anything.
Ray Stevenson is actually a great actor. Although he makes a really good sidekick, I'm sure that he would make a really great lead.
And that's it. Not really a fast-paced flick, but it'll keep you entertained nonetheless.

The Book of Eli. 2010. USA.
Rating: Six and half out of ten.
Everyone's sunglasses: Nine out of ten.
Surprisingly good for a B-Movie.
Well, I don't know if this was a B-Movie, because it had an A-List cast. Maybe it was an A-Movie trying to look like a B-Movie, because the story deserved a B-Movie treatment. And anyway, everybody loves vampires.
This is apparently based again on a series of books. Like Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Again, I mourn the lack of original cinematic material, but this movie was well-made enough to make me want to watch the sequels, if any.
The lead guy, Chris Massoglia, looked like a girl. He'd probably be hot if he was a girl.
John C. Reilly is one of my favorites. He's a great actor. I don't even have to explain anymore.
A bearded Salam Hayek just makes me shudder in disgust. Freak.
Ken Watanabe is so cute. Haha.
Willem Dafoe didn't spend enough screen time. I wish they gave him some action scenes. But I don't think he'd be capable of any decent action sequences at his age.
And Ray Stevenson was so great, he was almost unnoticeable. He almost slipped away unnoticed. This just goes to show how versatile Stevenson can be. Therefore, give him more movies.
