Review: Now You See Me

The Four Horsemen. Or should I say, The Four Con Men. That should be the title right there if we want to base it on the magical performers alone. Otherwise, if you wanna include Hulk in the plot, then it's Now You See Me.

"Do you see me now?!?"

As street magician J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) says, "First rule of magic: always be the smartest person in the room." This only applies to Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman), who is hell-bent on exposing the fraudulent thieves. The thing was that Thaddeus knows a lot about the magic tricks that The Four Horsemen are playing. And the officer assigned to the case, Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) knows jack shit about magic. So good luck with that , right?

The Hulkster usually doesn't know anything anyway, except the Hulk Smash.

Merritt McKinney looked the part of the mentalist. But that's because he's really "mental"!

Woody Harrelson, seen here looking every bit mental.

Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher) was the former assistant of Daniel, but she became a Houdini herself; hence, her recruitment to the Four Horsemen.

Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) was like a poor man's David Blaine, pulling tricks on the street and stealing from the audience as well. Just like David Blaine who also steals your attention on TV.

That lazy eye don't fool us!

This is a classic heist film, with a twist of course. The Four Horsemen are like modern day Robin Hoods. They literally steal millions and give it away to the people, and even to the poor─in this case, the ones hit by Hurricane Katrina. Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine), benefactor of the Four Horsemen, owns an insurance company, and duped the insurers when the hurricane struck.

Oh Alfred, you thieving bastard.

I want to give spoiler alerts in the end, but I choose not to. You can IMDb the movie synopsis if you like. The good thing is that right now, there's still no updated synopsis yet. The thing is, if you knew the twist in the end, you wouldn't want to watch the whole thing anymore because you would feel like a god knowing everything that came into play. All I can say is: surprise, surprise!

"Surprise!"

Personally, I felt refreshed watching the whole thing. So I give this a 4.2/5.
