Coming Soon: Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles

Origin8 Media

Here are three reasons to watch this film:

1. It is groundbreaking.
That's because this is the first Filipino film to be shot entirely on green screen. Yes, you heard that right. That's why it looks very much like 300 and Sin City.

The fields, the trees, the mountains, the skies─all CGI.

2. It does a fresh take on aswang films.
And it does this by structuring the narrative as a "siege" story. "It is about a group of people with their own dynamics, trapped in one setting with the peril constantly hounding them outside of that setting," explains director Erik Matti. "A siege angle gives a fresh take on a familiar aswang story, thereby allowing us to explore the horror genre in new territories. We’re not limited to repetitive scare tricks. An aswang siege film opens up possibilities to explore not just horror per se. We can go into a bit of action, humor, character build-ups and a love story."1

An aswang mob.

3. Joey Marquez is in it.
In the words of director Erik Matti, "Joey Marquez hasn't done movies in quite some time now that we've forgotten how good an actor he is." And Matti promises us that there will be lots of great acting moments here, not just from Marquez, but from the other veteran actors such as Janice de Belen and the great Roi Vinzon.

Because it's 2012, the proper catchphrase would now be
"OMG... ang junakis ni Janice."

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles also stars Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Ramon Bautista, and LJ Reyes, and opens on 17 October 2012. Take your family with you─this film is meant to be enjoyed as a family fright fest. Check out the director's cut of the official trailer.
